Upcoming 0.8.0 projectile normalization changes

For some time now it was only in a state of rumor that "normalization" will get a significant change in upcoming 0.8.0 update, but now it's confirmed via Overlord's own blog:

It was decided that in 8.0 update the normalization value will be decreased to 4-5 degrees for all rounds.
The change is supposed to raise the importance of armour in the game, leading to increase of "we-didn't-even-scratch-'em" shots.
Aiming weakspots and not shooting blindly will become even more beneficial.
Precise vehicle control and aiming FTW!

What exactly does that mean for every WoT player?

  • well .. you will not be able to penetrate targets with ease, and that if it wasn't a problem already
  • an increase in ammo cost at the end of the battle since well you have to shoot more because many shots will bounce/ricochet or even miss the target entirely
  • and with that will get a lower income / battle
  • with long range shots will be harder and harder to get a penetration
  • tanks that have hi slope armor and/or skirt armor will become more "invincible"
  • tanks that have low pen values for their guns, and here note the E-100's KwK 44 L/38 gun will suddenly become undesirable to play with
  • SPGs that fire HE ammo will be the killing machine since HE ammo does not "benefit" from normalization

Short Q&A regarding upcoming 0.8.0 patch testing

_Terrible_ : Storm, how can we demount the permanent equipment in the test server if the gold is no longer provided?
Strorm: We will give you 250 gold per a day.

en777: Dear Storm, in a recent answer you said that the test 0.8.0 Gold all the same will not be given, and that the prem-tanks for testing will be issued immediately.
In this regard, the question is not whether the plan is for this reason to transfer the experience in free on the test free of charge, or at least for the credits? For I, and many other players are issued on a test using gold mainly for the free transfer of experience. And having lost it, pumping equipment, and testing will be delayed for a longer time than usual.
Storm: All the tanks will be issued immediately. Nothing to research.

dim572: All tanks will be with the crew? If so, will the crew immediately 100%?
Storm: Yes, Plus experience for 3 perks.

dw_papik: Question about fighting gamemodes . As this option would work in the case of a platoon? For example, one of the players off the platoon head-on battle, for others it is turned off? Or choice of modes will depend on the platoon commander (all the players together)?
Storm: To disable the platoon will not work.

1mihaluch1: why should I play these modes if I do not like them?, I want to play in the platoon, and without too many I'm sure. what is the problem why you can not do it for the entries?
Storm: Because I do not have time.

MihalichHCK: The number of artillery. Will you cut down per battle? 6 to 10 artys is to much. In my opinion more than 2 to 3 is to much. And clearly visible contrast between the average level at which the arts play a little and a lot of fun and top with 8 arts and it is better not to play.
Example:

Storm: We nerf the self-propelled guns.

Wargaming.Net acquires BigWorld

I just found out, and needed to share/discuss, the news that WarGaming.net bought for 45 million USD the Australian firm responsible for the BigWorld engine.

What that means for WarGaming, well it means they can control the engine development in house and shape it to their exact specs for the Word of # games franchise.

For those who do not know what BigWorld is, is the name of the engine that powers the World of Tanks and World of Warplanes.

What it means for us, the players? well it kinda means nothing since BigWorld has proven to be the shityest MMO engine out there that anyone can licence. And WG went all out and payed 45mil for all of it, how stupid is that!? LOL
I could name a couple of other engines that have proven to be able to handle vast spaces (maps), complex objects and physics and for god's sake .. they don't cost 45mil a licence.

God damn ... how much stupidity those WG heads can handle?!
I mean what the fuck! that's what WG does with our money? spends it on companies that are black holes ...

Well yeah, since now they control the engine directly they would someday perfect it and provide WoT with a better experience but, how long will that take and how much money this will eat up? another 45mil!?
