Is losing a battle an actual punishment?

Since the 0.8.0 public testing has begun and WG made available the after battle report I noticed something rather strange, and not in a good way.
I noticed that the losing team is punished for losing the match. Let me explain:

The top guy in the losing team earns less XP than the bottom guy in the wining team. Sounds strange, doesn't it!?

In the above picture you can see that the top player in the losing team earned 381XP while the worst player in the wining team earned 474XP. Strange ...

Let's enter in some detail of what they actually done to earn that XP, shall we:

As you can see, our top guy in he loser team fired 18 shells which 15 of those found their target and 14 of those actually penetrated the target, with one bounce; doing in total 3747 points of damage to enemy tanks. Added to that, our guy detected one enemy tank. You can also notice he did 1HP points of damage to allied tank - we can ignore that since the amount it completely negligible (the penalty for 1HP damage to ally is extremely low).

Now for our bottom guy in the wining team. How did he do? Well, as you can clearly see, he fired 2 shells none of which found their target. Other than that, our guy did not do anything else that could've earned him XP.

Basically the guy that did nothing in the match earned more XP than the guy who did the most work in the enemy team, just because his team won the match (for him).

Bottom line is that now matter how hard you try to win the match, WG will punish you for losing it. That said, brings us to yet another discovery the new after battle report bought to surface: IDLEing in a match will earn you more XP than doing something. Sounds even stranger, doesn't it .. but more on this in the coming day(s).
